A Good Friend

Les, We met when we were young and quickly became inseparable. For the time I lived in Regina, it was you and I — two friends side by side. The gym, endless laughter, cheat days at DQ, long drives in your yellow Mustang — you loved that car so much — singing country music as if no one could hear us. When I left Saskatchewan, you never stopped checking in — always making sure I was okay. You carried your own anxieties quietly, yet you had this rare gift of making others feel safe and at home. I still hear your voice, reminding me I wasn’t alone. Two worlds, one friendship. Always.

struggled to understand why Les was so devoted to supporting a youth we both worked with. Long after he left us, he did the role that I had left. In my mind, this was a 'you can't help someone who does not want to help themselves' situation. It absolutely was, unfortunately for all involved. That did not stop him. Les was there for support, but not to the point of abuse. I did not understand why. He told me when I asked about it, that I didn't know him. The kid was a good person, and he needs help. I guess I am saying that I stopped, and he did not. Compassion isn't abuse, until you let it be. I want to learn this lesson. Thanks Les.

Q: What 3 words best describe Leslie and why? A: Les was meticulous, caring, and baked the best hams ever!! We will miss him as part of our family and he has left a big void in our hearts. He was a joy to know, a grounded presence in our daughter’s life and a source of direction for our grandson Troy. My husband and I and our whole family will miss him greatly. I hope he is now free from any struggles. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to those he leaves to mourn , his beautiful and dear Mom, Dad and sister Lisa. Until we meet again Les our family will hold you in high regard. As ever Bernice, Dennis, Ashlee, Mike, Monica, and all the children. Desiree will hold you dear forever.

In Loving Memory of Les Les was a loving and caring soul whose kindness touched everyone who crossed his path. If someone needed help, he was there—without hesitation, without judgment, and always with a warm heart. His generosity wasn’t loud or showy; it was steady, dependable, and deeply felt by those who knew him. To honour his life, we remember a man who gave more than he ever asked for. His compassion, his quiet strength, and his willingness to be there for others will remain with us. Though he is no longer here, the goodness he shared continues to live on in the lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort, and may we carry forward the kindness he showed so effortlessly. Your forever loving brother Tun Tun
