About this package
What is direct cremation
Direct cremation — what we call Essential Cremation at Sage — is the most straightforward cremation option. There is no formal service before cremation. Families receive the ashes and have complete freedom to gather, scatter, or memorialize in their own way and on their own timeline.
How does the process work?
We handle everything from the initial transfer of your loved one through to the return of cremated remains. Arrangements can be made online or in person with one of our licensed funeral directors, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Who is this package for?
Families who want dignified, professional care at an honest price. Many families who choose this package hold a private gathering or celebration of life separately — at home, at a venue, or outdoors — in their own time and on their own terms.
Can I add to this package later?
Yes. Any of the additional options listed can be added at any time. There is no pressure — we will walk you through every option at your pace. If you choose an upgraded urn or container, you simply pay the difference from the basic item included.
Frequently asked questions
How much does direct cremation cost in Regina, Saskatchewan?
Sage Funeral Home's Essential Cremation total package price is $2,395. This is an all-inclusive price covering professional care, all documentation, the cremation process, and return of cremated remains in a temporary urn. GST and any selected additions are extra. There are no hidden fees
Can we still hold a memorial or celebration of life?
Absolutely. Essential Cremation covers the cremation itself. Families are completely free to hold a celebration of life, memorial service, or family gathering before or after — at Sage, at a church, at a community hall, or at any venue of their choosing. There is no requirement to hold a service.
How long does the cremation process take?
Cremation follows a legal identification and documentation process required by Saskatchewan law. Families should expect several days from the time of death to the return of cremated remains. Your funeral director will provide a specific timeframe during arrangements.
What is the difference between direct cremation and a cremation with a service?
Direct cremation (Essential Cremation) covers the cremation process itself with no gathering or formal service included. A cremation with a service — such as our Family Tribute or Celebration packages — includes time at Sage or another venue for family to gather before or after cremation. Both begin with the same professional care for your loved one.
Is Sage Funeral Home licensed to provide cremation services in Saskatchewan?
Yes. Sage Funeral and Cremation Services is licensed by the Funeral and Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan (FCSCS). Our team holds a CFSP designation — Certified Funeral Service Practitioner — and we operate in full compliance with The Funeral and Cremation Services Act of Saskatchewan.
