What’s Included in a Typical Burial Package in Saskatchewan?
In Saskatchewan, a funeral home’s burial package covers the professional side: bringing your loved one into our care and later to the cemetery, the paperwork, and the funeral director’s time. What it usually doesn’t include are the things chosen by your family or charged by someone else.

Cemetery payments – Sage coordinates all payments to the cemetery for you as cash disbursements, so everything is paid in one place.
Death certificate – If you need a Provincial Death Certificate, your family orders it directly from eHealth Saskatchewan, and we’ll guide you through how. Most offices accept the Funeral Director Attestation of Death we provide.
No surprises – GST applies to our packages. Before anything is signed, your funeral director goes through every line of the contract with you.
How to Arrange a Burial in Regina
1. Call us. Day or night, at 306.352.7243. We bring your loved one into our care from home, hospital or care home.
2. Confirm who makes the decisions. Saskatchewan law sets out who the Authorized Decision Maker is, and we’ll help you confirm it. A will is preferred: the executor named in it is the first person we work with. Without a will there’s no executor, and the decision passes to the next person on the legal list.
3. Choose the service. A graveside service only, or a funeral first and then the burial. Add a viewing if you’d like one.
4. Choose the casket. Our casket selection runs from $819 to $2,850, including green options such as seagrass wicker and natural poplar.
5. Choose the cemetery. If there’s already a family plot, tell us where it is. If not, we’ll help you choose one. At the City of Regina’s cemeteries, arrangements at the time of death are made through a funeral home, and traditional plots are available at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. One City plot holds a casket plus up to three urns.
6. We handle the paperwork. Registration of the death, the burial permit and everything the cemetery needs.
7. The burial. We bring your loved one to the service and the cemetery, and a funeral director is with your family at the graveside. Burials go ahead year-round in Regina, winter included.
Can You Bury Cremated Remains?
Graveside Farewell – If you choose cremation, the urn can still be buried, often in a family grave. Our Graveside Farewell package includes cremation, coordination with the cemetery and a funeral director at the graveside.
Urn vaults – City of Regina cemeteries require an urn vault when cremated remains go into a traditional plot.
Is There Help with the Cost?
CPP death benefit – A one-time payment of up to $2,500 to eligible estates. We’ll help you apply.
Veterans – The Last Post Fund helps with funeral and burial costs for eligible Canadian veterans.
Families with limited means – You may qualify for a burial funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services. Please call us and we’ll walk you through it.
Financing – Available through a Canadian lender, with quick approvals.
Payment – Made in person at Sage by credit card, cash or cheque.

How much does a burial cost in Regina?
At Sage, a Graveside Service starts at $2,295 plus GST and a Traditional Funeral Service at $3,235 plus GST. The casket, cemetery plot, opening and closing fees and burial dome are extra.
Is the casket included in a burial package?
No. Caskets vary widely, so you choose one separately. Ours run from $819 to $2,850.
Do I need a burial vault or dome in Regina?
Yes. City of Regina cemeteries require a burial dome for every casket burial, and the cemetery supplies it. For rural burials, we usually arrange the dome. Either way, Sage coordinates all payments to the cemetery as cash disbursements, so you pay in one place.
Can a burial happen in winter in Regina?
Yes. Burials are done year-round in Regina, including through the winter, so there’s no need to wait until spring.
Is embalming required for burial in Saskatchewan?
No. Embalming isn’t required by law. It may be recommended if there will be a viewing, and your funeral director will advise you.
Can the funeral be livestreamed?
Yes. We can livestream the service for family who can’t be there, and a fee applies.
What if we don’t have enough pallbearers?
We can arrange professional pallbearers. Through our Community Pallbearer program, volunteers also carry those who have no family to do so.
