ESSENTIAL DIRECT CREMATION SERVICES - MOOSE JAW, SK

SIMPLE. MEANINGFUL. AFFORDABLE.

Essential cremation — also called direct cremation — is the most straightforward way to care for your loved one. No public  viewing, no service beforehand. Just compassionate care, on your timeline.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS

What is Essential Cremation?

Essential cremation (also called direct cremation or immediate cremation) is the simplest cremation option available in Regina. Your loved one is cremated shortly after passing, without embalming, public viewing, or a formal funeral service beforehand.

This doesn't mean you can't celebrate their life. It simply gives your family the flexibility to hold a memorial service on your own timeline — weeks or even months later — allowing time for family to gather from across the country.

WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE THIS

  • Removes time pressure to plan an immediate service while grieving

  • Provides flexibility to gather family members from out of town

  • Allows complete personalization of memorial celebrations later

  • Significant cost savings while maintaining dignity and respect

  • Simplifies decisions during an already overwhelming time

  • Gives families complete control over how and when they say goodbye

Benefits of Essential Cremation

At Sage, we bring the same level of professionalism and compassion to every essential cremation as we do to our most elaborate services. Your loved one is always in good care.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we still have a memorial service if we choose essential cremation?

Absolutely. Essential cremation simply means there's no public viewing or service before the cremation. Many families hold beautiful memorial services weeks or months later, giving everyone time to gather and plan a meaningful celebration of life.

What if my loved one passes outside of Moose Jaw?

We will arrange for the transfer from anywhere in Saskatchewan. If your loved one passes in another province, we coordinate with funeral homes in that location to bring them home to Sage.

( Additional milage fees apply)

What can we do with the cremated remains?

Saskatchewan law gives families many options: keep them at home, bury them in a cemetery, scatter them in a meaningful location (with permission), or divide among family members. We'll guide you through all the options

Do we have to travel to Regina to complete the paperwork?

No, Sage funeral home offers on-line, in-person or over the phone arrangements. Contact us today to learn more about our virtual arrangements and online visitation options, or learn more here

How long does the process take?

Typically 4-7 days from the time of death until cremated remains are ready. This allows for required documentation, identification, obtaining  permits, and the cremation itself. We'll keep you informed throughout the process.

Do I need to purchase an urn?

No. The cremated remains are returned in a basic, dignified crematorium  container at no extra charge. Many families choose to keep the ashes in the temporary urn, or have our team transfer your loved ones ashes to a decorative urn that you provide to us or have purchased from our showroom.

Is direct cremation less dignified than a traditional funeral?

Not at all. At Sage, your loved one receives the same respectful, professional care regardless of the service chosen. Essential cremation is a dignified choice made by hundreds of Saskatchewan families every year..

How are my loved ones ashes returned to me?

Your funeral director will discuss the available options with you, such as: personal delivery to your home, pick up from our location in Regina or secured shipment via Canada Post.
