About me, Joan Rink

Joan is a compassionate and deeply experienced spiritual care provider, dedicated to supporting individuals and families through life’s most vulnerable moments. With a lifelong commitment to service, Joan brings warmth, presence, and a steady sense of calm to those navigating grief, crisis, and transition.

Since 2018, Joan has served as a Hospital Chaplain at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, where she provides pastoral care to clients and their families—helping them not only cope, but find meaning, dignity, and peace in both living and dying. Her work is rooted in attentive listening, prayer, and advocacy, ensuring every individual feels seen, supported, and respected.

Joan’s background in education spans decades. As a teacher of Christian Ethics with both the Regina Catholic School Board and Prairie Valley School Division, she has guided generations of students in exploring values, faith, and compassionate living. Her ability to connect, teach, and inspire is a cornerstone of her approach in all areas of her work.

In addition to her clinical and educational roles, Joan has been a dedicated community leader and advocate. Since 1989, she has coordinated and supported an international social justice initiative in partnership with communities in Mexico—organizing travel, raising awareness, and contributing to meaningful, on-the-ground change.

For over 40 years, Joan has also served families directly as a facilitator of funerals and prayer services. Her presence during these moments is marked by sincerity, grace, and a genuine understanding of grief. She creates meaningful, personalized experiences that honour both the life lived and the love that remains.

Joan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Campion College and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina, along with Clinical Pastoral Education training. Her work is guided by a simple but powerful calling: to offer hospitality, prayer, and compassionate presence wherever it is needed most.
