It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Muriel (Edmonds) Barss on April 18, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of her family.
Alice was born in Maryfield, Saskatchewan, on December 27, 1936. After graduating, she moved to Regina and began working at SaskTel, where she met her beloved husband, Doug.
Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was also a passionate and active volunteer, bringing her charm, skills, and generous spirit to every organization she joined—whether it was golf, curling, church, the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association, SaskTel Pioneers, or the many others that benefitted from her participation.
Alice never lost her inner child or her competitive streak. She loved her games and sports, and brought energy and enthusiasm to everything she did.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Barss; children Bruce Barss (Wanda Bornn), Ron Barss (Heather Barss), Darlene Barss (Steve McDonnell), Richard Barss (Erin Hoogeveen), and Bob Compton (Gail Compton); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend Roberta French; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Bertha Edmonds; her brothers Bill, Hugh, and Roy Edmonds; sisters Patricia Harrison and Joy McIsaac; and daughter Shannon Barss.
Alice will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 7 at 2 pm at St. James United Church 4506 Sherwood Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity or organization of your choice in her name.
Livestreaming of the service will be available through St. James United Church. Please visit: https://www.facebook.com/share/16cyrkiG3F/?mibextid=wwXIfr
