Erwin Schmidt

Erwin Schmidt, 92, of Regina Saskatchewan, passed away on April 3, 2026 in Regina.

Erwin was born in Romania, moved to Austria in 1940, and immigrated to Canada when he was 19.

A well-respected journeyman diesel mechanic, Erwin had a strong work ethic and always insisted on doing good work. He built up his own mechanic business and successfully invested in real estate.

In his earlier years, Erwin enjoyed traveling and visited many countries on four continents. He introduced that love for travel to his sons.

He enjoyed playing chess, going for walks, cooking (and eating!) and liked watching wrestling on TV. He loved telling stories from his past experiences and adventures.

Erwin leaves behind his sons Glenn (Diane) of Overland Park, Kansas, Terry (Toni) of Calgary, Alta. and Kelly (Yoko) of Himeji, Japan, and their mother Gertie, grandchildren Kenji and Anna, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Titus and Josephine, brother Rudy and sister Valerie.

No funeral service will be held at this time. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
