Esther Lafayette, 69, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of profound love, strength, and dedicated care for her family and community. Esther faced a courageous four-year battle with cancer, meeting each day with the same resilience and grace that defined her entire life.

Esther grew up on a farm, where she learned the values of hard work and family, before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan where she spent her adult life and built her career and family. As a compassionate and professional nurse, Esther spent her life caring for others. Her career was a true reflection of her spirit—always putting the comfort, health, and well-being of those in need above all else. Her gentle touch, sharp mind, and comforting presence left a lasting impact on the countless patients she served and colleagues she worked alongside.

In her later years, Esther lived life to the fullest through her favorite hobbies. She loved to golf and bowl, deeply enjoying the time spent playing and socializing. When she was well, she also delighted in exploring home and garden tours and going for relaxing drives to take in the scenery.

Esther’s heart was always anchored firmly by her family and her exceptional circle of loved ones. Following the devastating loss of her beloved son Michael two years ago, Esther completely poured her heart into caring for her very special grandson, Deckster. He was the absolute light of her life, and the incredibly unique, protective bond they shared brought her immense joy and purpose.

She also had a group of very dedicated friends who truly became family to her. When she became very ill, this incredible network of friends surrounded her with unwavering support, love, and care, proving how deeply she was valued by everyone who knew her. Special thank you to her dear friends Jody & Dineen whom provided daily support during her final months of life.

Esther is survived by her devoted daughter, Whitney, her husband, Jory, and their cherished children, Anabelle, Caleb and Boden. She leaves behind her grandson, Deckster, as well as her grandson Chace, his partner Abigail, and their children. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ruby, Darlene, and Joy, and her brothers, Dale and Harvey, along with a close circle of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Homer and Evelyn; her son, Michael; her dear sister, Grace; and her nephew Corey. Though their absence left a quiet ache in her life, her family takes comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

A celebration of Esther’s life and legacy will be held by her family November 9th, 1:00pm at Local Market YQR at #106 - 1377 Hamilton street, Regina, Saskatchewan.

Please wear bright colours, Esther particularly loved blue and yellow. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her healing hands, her fierce strength, and her boundless loving heart. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to support in the care and future education of her grandson Deckster, whom she was the primary caregiver for.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Carmen Johnson & the Palliative care team whom provided respectful, compassionate care to Esther throughout this journey.
