Born in Regina in September 1958, Gregory Beatty passed away in April 2026. Though his early years included time in Saskatoon and Kindersley, Regina was always home.

After completing a degree in economics at the University of Regina, followed by a law degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Greg returned to Regina where he established a career as a professional writer. His work appeared in numerous magazines, reflecting his deep knowledge and appreciation of the arts, history, sports, the environment and politics. In 2007, he joined Prairie Dog Magazine as a staff writer, where he remained a valued contributor until his retirement.

He maintained lifelong connections with childhood friends and cultivated a wide network of acquaintances through his interviews, research, and genuine interest in people. An avid reader and thoughtful conversationalist, Greg loved learning about a wide range of topics.

Family was central to his life. He was a devoted caregiver to his Aunt Florence until her passing at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Helping his parents was a priority. When his father, Carman, returned to Regina, Greg shared meaningful time with him, including road trips to Fleming and outings for coffee with friends. Greg maintained relationships with his nieces and nephews, as well as with members from the Jaques and Beatty sides of the family.

He enjoyed an active lifestyle, often walking and cycling around the city. He warmly welcomed family visits to Regina, taking pride in sharing its cultural and historical sites. He also cherished summer trips to visit loved ones in British Columbia and Québec.

Deeply committed to his community, he took great care in maintaining his home and was actively involved with his neighbours in the historic Willoughby building.

Greg is predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Carman Beatty. He is survived by his brother Mike (Radium), sisters Brenda (Québec) and Michele (Chemainus), nephews Aaron, Ben, and Josh (Victoria), Julien (Québec) and nieces Aimée (Québec) and Malorie (Montréal).

He will be remembered for his curiosity, thoughtfulness, generosity, and the support he provided to family and friends.
