Jose Adan Ochoa Ayala, lovingly known as “Chepe,” was born on July 20, 1960, in El Salvador. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, at the age of 65, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Chepe’s memory will live on through his life partner, Andrea, and his children: Yvonne, Faviola, Jennifer, Rotmello and Rosaura. He was a proud grandfather to Ricardo, Tatiana, Mari and Silver, and a beloved sibling to Donatila (Jose), Juan (Gloria), Salvador (Matilde), Patricia, and Castula (Chris).
Chepe found deep joy and purpose in coaching soccer, where he mentored countless young athletes—teaching not only the game but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. He also had a lifelong love for softball, a sport he began playing as a young boy and continued to enjoy throughout his life. His dedication to athletics reflected his spirited nature and love for community.
His passion for dance was equally inspiring. Through his involvement in various dance groups, he brought vibrant energy to stages at Mosaic in Regina and Folkfest in Saskatoon, captivating audiences with his rhythm and zest for life.
Chepe cherished every moment spent celebrating with friends and family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. He especially enjoyed watching movies with his loved ones—most of all with Andrea.
He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Chepe’s legacy of love, mentorship, and vibrant spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Chepe was predeceased by his father, Adan; his mother, Clara; his brother, Feliciano; and his loving friend, Anna Bravo.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Pasqua Palliative Care Unit and the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic for the compassionate care and support they provided to Chepe and the entire family during his illness.
A celebration of Chepe’s life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 5 p.m. at New Beginnings Lutheran Church – 1037 Victoria Avenue.
Interment to take place in Wynyard, Saskatchewan in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Chepe’s memory.
