It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Walters (nee Elfrieda Jakob) beloved wife of Wesley Walters, of Regina, SK on Sunday, March30, 2025. Rita passed away peacefully with many of her family members at her side.
She is survived by her loving husband Wesley, her daughter Karen (David) Lewis, her son Geoff Weslowski (Heidi) as well as 4 grandchildren: Caroline, Oliver (Heather), Emma (Liam) and Sarah (Nohl) and 2 step-grandchildren: Taya Lebel and Cade Lebel. She was predeceased by her young son Gregory, her brother Jake Jakob and her parents Gustav and Ida Jakob.
She was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated to Canada with her mother and brother at age 8. She resided in Regina for her entire life, attending Balfour Technical Collegiate, where she enjoyed sports (notably high jump), being class president and going to the movies on the weekends. Following graduation, she spent her career working for the City of Regina and Regina Police Service where she made many friends.
Rita's passion was quality time with family and cooking her favorite delectable, traditional dishes, which is one of the ways she showed her love. She was a proud, loving and caring person with impeccable style - always a lady. Rita will live on in the hearts and special memories of her family who love her dearly.
We are all grateful for the loving care Rita received in her final days by the staff at Grace Hospice at William Booth Care Home. If anyone so desires, donations can be made to The Salvation Army William Booth Special Care Home in Rita's honour.
At Rita's request, a private family service will be held at a later date.
