It is with profound sadness, yet with submission to the will of God, that the family announces the passing of Victor Umukoro on June 9, 2026, at the age of 42, following a courageous battle with an aggressive brain tumor.

Victor will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Karimot, and their beloved daughter, Ufuoma. He is also survived by his brothers, sister, extended family members, and many dear friends. Victor was predeceased by both of his parents.

Victor was a calm, humble, and selfless man whose kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and a source of encouragement to many. Known for his gentle nature and caring heart, Victor never sought attention for himself and was always willing to help others. His quiet strength, generosity, and genuine concern for people made him someone others naturally trusted and admired.

A passionate media professional, Victor dedicated much of his life to photography and visual storytelling. In Nigeria, he worked as a photographer with the Lagos State Government and was among the official photographers who documented Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola's gubernatorial campaign. Through his work, Victor captured important moments and told stories through his lens with creativity, professionalism, and dedication.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Victor will be remembered for the exceptional character he displayed throughout his life. Even while facing the challenges of a serious illness, he remained remarkably positive, hopeful, and focused on the wellbeing of others. Friends and family often witnessed him offering words of encouragement, support, and reassurance, even during times when he himself needed strength.

Victor's faith in God remained unwavering throughout his journey. He prayed continually, trusted in God's mercy, and held firmly to hope until the very end. Even during his final days, when his strength and voice had faded, he remained steadfast in prayer and belief. His courage, resilience, and faith became an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Victor will be remembered not only for his talent as a photographer, but also for his gentle spirit, compassionate heart, unwavering faith, and the encouragement he freely gave to others. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends, his legacy of kindness, humility, perseverance, and love will continue to live on in the lives he touched.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Fort Qu‘Appelle Cemetery on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00AM.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, the Neurosurgery Unit, and all those who offered support, prayers, kindness, and care throughout Victor's illness and during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
